I am excited about all of the wonderful things a new school year will bring to Fifth Street School. Our administration and staff look forward to working with parents and students to promote success for all. I want to assure all concerned parties that I expect excellence from our students, faculty, staff, and administration. As we strive to work together, we will see Fifth Street School meet and exceed all expectations.

Mr. Richard Bryant

Prior to coming to Fifth Street, I taught Social Studies and Language Arts at Armstrong Middle School in Starkville, Cypress Fairbanks High School in Houston, Texas, and West Point Junior High School. I attended Okolona High School, Itawamba Community College, and Mississippi State University where I earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees.

I consider it a privilege to serve in the West Point Consolidated School District and as principal at Fifth Street School. I look forward to working with our students, parents, teachers and all of the Fifth Street family to help our students be successful.

Mrs. Lucy McKellar

Assistant Principal

Prior to working at Fifth Street, I worked Columbus Middle School. I taught math for three years at Fifth Street before moving to the Assistant Principal position. I love working with middle school students, and I look forward to an exciting year full of learning and adventure!

Prior to becoming an Assistant Principal at Fifth Street, I was Lead Teacher and School Test Coordinator at Starkville High School. I also taught Algebra for twelve years. I attended Mississippi University for Women where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Master of Education in Educational Leadership. I am beyond excited to join Fifth Street’s team of educators!  It is a privilege and honor serving the community of West Point and serving the students at Fifth Street School.

I would like to welcome all new and returning students and parents to Fifth Street School.  I am the counselor, and I am available to help students and parents have a successful year.  As the counselor, I work with parents, students, teachers, and administrators through many services.  Some of these services include conferences with parents to inform them of their children's progress, individual sessions with students to help with personal problems, and providing workshops for parents to share and learn ways to communicate with their children. If you have any questions, please call me at 492-5874 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday - Friday.
